Camp Kátur launches new website with the help of Mont

Grab your coat, your shoes and your camera, and take in the wonder of nature, the wildlife within it and the never-ending skies that makes Camp Kátur such a magical offering to the accommodation market. However, if you can’t get there, you can always connect from the comfort of your own home.

2022 marks the beginning of big plans for Mont and its relentless pursuit of improving the hospitality and lifestyle sector through digital design. Over the last 7 weeks, we have been working with the team at Camp Kátur and welcome them to the #MadeByMont family with their all-new digital presence.

When starting this project, we wanted to create something different to the norm and purposely wanted to create a technical challenge for the development team. To do this, we wanted to give the user the feeling of “limitless space” – much like the feeling you get when stargazing while at Camp Katur in person. To do this, the design team came up with a “headerless” design concept where the images on each page bleed off into the edges of your screen. Compromise was not an option, and we wanted this to be the case for both desktop and mobile users.

The technical challenge that follows on from this design concept surrounds the navigation of the website and how users interact with it. As creatures of habit, we are programmed to look at the top of the screen for navigational touchpoints, something that would not exist in this design – to overcome this, we introduced a “catching” header. As the user scrolls down the page, the navigation appears and then sticks to the top of the screen as the user continues – in the technical world, this is called a sticky header. It’s something that isn’t used very often in the industry, especially in the way it has been done for this project but it does add value and consistency to the brand and connect it to its customers.

Let’s not get hung up on that individual element though. The entire Camp Kátur website has lots of visual elements including preloaders, animated content, fluid design across all devices and fully optimised images. And that is just the design bits, technically it has their integrated booking system, custom feature manager, marketing integration and social media feeds to bring a more consistent feel to their website.

We caught up with Ross & Amanda  from Camp Kátur to get their insight into the project.

The depth of knowledge and technical insight was what initially drew us to working with the team at Mont. It was clear from the outset they were going to be able to deliver a complex site transition with multiple stakeholders and to a fast timeline at that. Design aspects that are cleverly interwoven with a new booking system has allowed us to communicate far clearer with our customers in a way that is beyond the restraints of our old website. Mont guided us through this process and in tandem with our brand strategist, have produced a current and contemporary feel to our website that the whole team are proud of. What we now have is a product that meets the needs of our customers, giving a far better journey, as well as integrating a completely new brand design for the company in an engaging and logical manner.
