Sustainability in the digital world
We want to change the future of digital technology and that change starts now.
Renewable Energy
Not only are all of our servers based in the UK, whether shared or dedicated, they run on 100% renewable electricity from sources like the sun, wind and sea.
When we became Mont in 2020, sustainability formed one of the core pillars of our business and with digital hosting accounting for nearly 40% of our active services, this was the place to start our sustainable journey.
• Every customer within our infrastructure is powered using 100% renewable energy
• Our servers handle more than 10 million page views per annum, each of which is sustainably powered
Project=Trees
This year we have started our Projects=Trees initiative to help build a sustainable future and change the way the digital sector thinks. For each project we deliver, renewal on hosting or creative brief we execute, a percentage of the total cost is used to plant trees on behalf of our customers.
By working with us, you help reduce CO2 emissions while providing co-benefits such as water filtration, shelter, food sources, poverty alleviation and biodiversity.
• Helping projects around the world in places like Madagascar, Kenya and Haiti
• Reduce your businesses carbon footprint
It’s also the smaller changes that have a big impact
Beyond our renewable energy infrastructure and Project=Trees initiative, we started to look at the smaller changes.
Reduced Carbon Footprint
Like most businesses, during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021 an opportunity presented itself to work from home. To manage this transition we implemented new project management systems and renewable energy infrastructure to support our team.
Because of these new working conditions, online meetings became the new normal and now more than 50% of our meetings are still conducted online. All of this reduces commuting and reduces our carbon footprint on the world.
Physical Hardware Upgrades
Our service and product rely on the tools of our trade. The machines we buy for our staff have a lighter environmental footprint than others within the market.
In our most recent equipment upgrade for our team in 2021, we wanted to make sure we could be as close to net carbon zero as possible. Not only are the enclosures of our computers made with low-carbon aluminium, but they also use recycled plastic, recycled tin and recycled rare earth elements.
Waste Reduction
Reducing the waste we produce is essential. Since 2020 we don’t have any paper-based exercises within our business. All project management, communication, invoicing and accounting are completely paperless.
We have also not only reduced the amount of print we purchase on behalf of our customers, but all of our marketing communication is digital – we even rely on digital business cards.
Change starts now
We’re making changes that impact the world one step at a time, it’s your turn to share that responsibility and demand more from your digital provider
