Sustainable digital solutions

This year we have had the opportunity to look at the road ahead and implement positive changes to our services not only for our customers, but the world. We all have a corporate responsibility to create a sustainable future and by using Mont, you can be safe in the knowledge that you are doing your part. We want to change the future of digital technology and that change starts now.

Not only are all of our servers based in the UK, but they also run on 100% renewable electricity from sources like the sun, wind and sea. Our customers are now safe in the knowledge that their website or digital platform is powered by natural, sustainable sources.

As of this year, we launched our Projects=Trees initiative to help build a sustainable future and change the way the digital sector thinks. For each project we deliver, renewal on hosting or creative brief we execute, a percentage of the total cost is used to plant trees on behalf of our customers. By working with us, you help reduce CO2 emissions while providing co-benefits such as water filtration, shelter, food sources, poverty alleviation and biodiversity. It’s the little things that count.

Next, we started to look at our operational structure within our studio. Like most businesses, during the pandemic, an opportunity presented itself to work from home. To manage this transition we implemented new project management systems and renewable energy infrastructure to support our team. Because of these new working conditions, online meetings became the new normal and now 2 years on, we continue to conduct more than 50% of our meetings online. All of this reduces commuting and in-turn our carbon footprint on the world.

We also then looked at our physical hardware. Our service and product rely on the tools of our trade. The machines we buy for our staff have a lighter environmental footprint than others within the market. In our most recent equipment upgrade for our team in 2021, we wanted to make sure we could be as close to net carbon zero as possible. Not only are the enclosures of our computers made with low-carbon aluminium, but they also use recycled plastic, recycled tin and recycled rare earth elements.

Finally, we wanted to reduce the waste we produce. Since 2020 we don’t have any paper-based exercises within our business. All project management, communication, invoicing and accounting are completely paperless. We have reduced the amount of print we purchase on behalf of our customers and all of our marketing communication is digital.

All of these individual and arguably small factors equal a much bigger change in the world and as a Mont customer, none of the above has resulted in any increased costs.

It’s the little changes we make right now that prevent a bigger change in the world later on.
